Good morning, my dear judges. I’m glad to be No.5 candidate, it’s a great chance for me to show my best side for you. Today, I am applying for the middle school English teacher. My topic is Past and Present. And now, I will begin my class.

Lead-in

Class begins! Boys and girls, how are you today? I’m fine , too, thank you. Now let’s  chant and do the actions together. Are you ready? Go! “Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, Turn around. Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, Touch the ground. Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, Shine your shoes. Teddy Bear, Teddy Bear, That will do!” Terrific! May I draw your attention now? I want to ask you a question. What kinds of transportation do you know? Any volunteers? Ok Jane please. “car, bike”, anything else? Ok, bus. Well done, class.

Presentation

Now, I’ll show you some pictures, look at the pictures carefully, and guess what’s on them. What’s in the first picture? Elena, have a try. Yes, the first picture is “taxi”. Read after me, taxi, taxi, take a taxi. How about the second one? It’s “train”. Wonderful , now follow me: train, train, train. Girls, please! And boys, please. And the last one? Who wants to have a try? Ok everybody together! “underground”! Now please read the new words after me, and see if you clearly pronounce it. Let’s have a check. This row, read it one by one. Great job! Well, one more question, which transportation do you like best and why? who wants to share with us? Ok, lily, you likes train best, because it’s safe and cheap. Tom? I see, you likes plane, because it’s fast. Well, any other volunteers? Ok, you, please. You like bike best. Why? firstly, it’s good for my health, secondly, it’s good for the environment.

I feel so proud of you, because you have realized the importance of protecting environment. And I hope every one of us can live a green way. So we have to choose the transportation which is convenient and does no harm to the environment. Well, there are two people talking about the transport at different times. Let’s listen and see what they are talking. The tape is over, what idea have you got? Yes, Shelly, oh, you found Millie used to take a bus to school. Pay attention, used to do means often do something in the past time, and used to doing means the habits of doing something in the past time. Jack, what do you know? Good, people in Sunshine Town begin to use the underground in 2008. yes, class, it’s only 5 years form now, really a short time.

Practice& Consolidation

Ok, I think you have understood this dialogue. Now, I will divide you into three groups. So you are sun group, moon group and star group. And now look at the blackboard, there are three frogs and they stand for your teams. Now they are just waiting to cross the river. once your team member come to the front and finish the task, your frog will pass one stone. Let’s see which frog cross the river first. Now I will give you the task. Every group will discuss within your group and act out the conversation. Five minutes later, I will invite some one to act it on the platform. Are you clear? Let’s do it! Time is up! Ok, which group wants to show first? Don’t be shy, that’s terrific. Ann and Stefan, you act like actors. Let’s clap hands for them. So sun group will cross one stone. How about moon group? Damon and your partner,  please. You have made a small mistakes, but it doesn’t matter, you still have done a great job! So your group cross one stone too. And star group? You are amazing I have to say. I love your performance, ok your group will cross one stone. Class, let’s do it again.

Summary

  Ok, class, today what have we learnt. Right, six new words, such as “bus, train, taxi, plane and underground”, also, we have mastered useful phrases, including “used to, begin to use”. After learning this lesson, I hope all of us can have a new understanding of different transportation, and attach importance to protecting our environment, even simply choosing the transportation that pollutes less.

Homework

After class, you may do a survey for me, it’s about “how do your families go to work in the past and at present”, thus you can write a composition and give us a report in the next class.
